Arkeofilms is a company based in Manila and founded in 2000. Arkeofilms
takes its place as one of the country’s leaders in independent filmmaking.
Our short and full-length features have been screened in film festivals and have
won awards and recognition from the local industry, critics and the press. Our
projects in development have been awarded funding from national agencies
and institutions and have been selected for special programs and workshops
abroad. Today, the company is pursuing international co production for
its upcoming full-length features.
Jimenez is an award-winning writer and filmmaker who has worked in film, television and print media.
Her filmography includes the comedy hit BIG TIME, directed by Mario Cornejo, where she worked as producer and writer. In 2010, she directed her first full length feature, a documentary titled, “Kano: An American and His Harem” which won in the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam 2010, and also the Best Documentary Award in Cinemanila and GawadUrian. Jimenez is the presiding chairperson of IFC (Philippine Independent Filmmakers Multi-purpose Cooperative), one of the largest representations of independent filmmakers in the country.
Her real name is Maria Coreen T. Jimenez.
Joel Ruiz has directed and produced countless corporate and commercial videos and feature works of the company. Ruiz was initially recognized by critics for his sublime short filme, “Mansyon” (The Mansion) won the top prize at the 1st Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival in 2005 and was screened in several international film festivals in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. In 2008, he directed “Baby Angelo” for the Cinemalaya festival. In 2010, he was the first Filipino director to be selected for the prestigious Binger Director’s Film Lab in Amsterdam. Other projects in development include two new short films and a second full-length film with a writing grant from the NCCA which is slated for international co-production.
Producer, director and founding partner at Arkeofilms, a production company in Manila, Philippines, Margie brings 17 years of combined experience in feature film, corporate video and commercials, and educational television to her new home in the U.S.A. Currently based in Los Angeles, she has been selected as a participant in various programs at film festivals around the world, including the Rotterdam Lab for emerging producers, Le Pavilion Les Cinemas Du Sud at Cannes, and the Berlinale Talent Project Market where she received the Talent Highlight Award.
Recent credits include John Sayles’ 2011 feature film “Amigo,” a U.S.-Philippines co-production where she served as Line Producer, and the much-awaited “Child of Grace” written and directed by Ian McCrudden based on the book “June Bug” by Chris Fabry. She is looking forward to doing more local production work as well as developing films for international co-production.
